Adults:
Programs
We run a week-long Vacation Bible School during the summer that attracts children from within our church and the surrounding neighborhoods. We also sponsor a camping program that utilizes both the United Church of Christ’s Camps, as well as our own Camp Bethany, where we utilize the facilities of the local Boy Scout Camp for a week.
Soon after the school year begins, practice begins on our annual Christmas Pageant which takes place at the early worship service on Christmas Eve. This pageant showcases the Children’s music, voice and acting abilities. An Advent Workshop is held on the first Sunday of Advent . We come together to make a craft item for Christmas, and have fellowship and worship together. We also set aside one Sunday morning during Advent when all of our classes join together for a special presentation to the whole church family. Our music program runs through the school year with four choirs that lift us up during worship and at special concerts.
During the year our Church School offerings support our wider missions, Good Neighbors, and many other projects.
During Lent we participate in special Lenten services and have an Easter egg hunt on the grounds of the church for our elementary students on Easter Sunday.
Classes run from September through June with a regular lectionary that follows what we are learning about in worship. During the months of July and August we combine the classes and have various volunteers teaching the Word of God.
Our staff consists of Bethany members with many years of experience, who give of their time and talents to make the Christian Education Department one of the strongest in northeast Ohio. Our facilities include an education wing, new classrooms and a choir room in the lower level of our new addition, with separate class and meeting rooms in the main church building. The YMCA Daycare is currently occupying the education wing, with full facilities for their program during the week.
