Bread and Broth for the Beloved
Come and enjoy a different kind of Lenten worship in a comfortable, reflective setting where we can:
- affirm that we are God’s beloved
- consider what it means that we are beloved
- commit ourselves to living out of that blessed identity
- praise God for loving us in this gracious way
We’ll do this each week by offering Bread and Broth for the Beloved: a relaxed time of reflective worship that will include a meal of bread and soup. The worship portions will use reflections on the 1st chapter of Mark’s Gospel to lift up God’s gift of love and call to share it, from Henry Nouwen’s Life of the Beloved.
On Ash Wednesday, March 5th, and Maundy Thursday, April 17th, simple meals in the social hall at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by traditional services in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. On the other Wednesday evenings a simple meal and worship will be in the social hall from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided. Here is the schedule:

Who we are and how we live has so much to do with how we see ourselves. Bread and Broth for the Beloved will give us a chance to see ourselves as God sees us: precious, beloved, chosen. With that awareness we have the hope of living with less anxiousness and more hope, joy and peace. I hope you’ll make plans now to join with other members of our Bethany family to share this time of food, fellowship, and faith building.
